Soil, seeds, a tent and a light are not in this one. Everything here is the part you keep and reuse.

Who it is for

A 2 ft by 2 ft (60 x 60 cm) tent holds one or two plants well if you keep the canopy flat, and this is the three things that do that. The pot gives the wire something to pull against, the clips shape what the wire holds, and none of the three does much on its own.

Running a 3x3 or a 4x4 instead? That one takes a hundred clips and 5 gallon pots, and it is the Training Kit, 3x3 or 4x4 ft.

How you use it

Potting

A 3 gallon (11.4 L) pot is the size most growers run in a 2x2. The steel top ring holds the rim open from the first scoop, so nothing folds over on you, and it is still open when you are training against it eight weeks later.

Bending

A BudClip goes over the main stem and the branch below it, and holds that branch at the angle you set. Move it outward as the branch thickens, and take it off after about two weeks, three at the most.

Holding

Hook the wire into a grommet and pull a branch out to the side. The grommets are the anchor, not the fabric. Later in flower the same wire ties heavy branches to each other so the tops hold themselves up.

Straight answers

Why five pots for a tent that holds two plants? Because pots are made and sold in fives, and the pot is the part you keep. Two go in the tent this run and the other three are your next runs, or your spares while one is in the wash. We would rather say that plainly than pretend a 2x2 fits five plants.

Will the 3 gallon be big enough? For one or two plants in a 2x2, yes, and it is what most growers settle on there. If you are going to let a plant get big, size up: a 5 gallon is the 3x3 and 4x4 answer and the bigger kit carries it.

Is it worth it over buying the three? $8.98 less than the $67.97 the same three come to at list today, which is 13% off. The three are the same three items, not a smaller version of them.

Where we use these

We wrote the guides first and built the products for them. These are the ones that use this kit:

  • Training - Topping plus continuous bending, from the first node to the flip.
  • Grow tent temperature - What makes a tent hot and how much air it takes to fix it.
  • Grow tent humidity - Humidity is the water you pour, and what to do about it.

Questions

How many plants fit a 2x2?
One or two, trained flat. Three will fit at the start and shade each other out by the stretch.

Can I use the wire on the pot itself?
That is what the grommets are for. Hook a cut length through a grommet and pull the branch down to it. The fabric is not the anchor and never should be.

Do the pots fold flat for storage?
They arrive flat packed and they fold again when they are empty. The steel ring is a ring, not a frame, so it rolls down with the pot.

Can I train once the plant is flowering?
Structural training is finished at the flip. The one exception is a net: keep tucking each branch back under the screen as it climbs and stop when the stretch stops, around day 21. After that it is support only, and that is the wire's job, not the clips'.
